Comprehensive Orthopaedic Global offers a variety of diagnostic procedures to assess and treat many orthopaedic and musculoskeletal conditions. Our digital X-ray service allows our radiologists to take images of the inside of the body. In a digital X-ray (also known as digital radiography), digital X-ray sensors are used to collect images as opposed to traditional photographic film.

On the day of your digital X-ray:

  • Ensure you arrive to your appointment a few minutes early and present your doctor’s order for the X-ray, as well as your insurance card(s).
  • If you have previously had an X-ray performed, please ensure you bring the films from the prior procedure with you to your appointment.
  • If you cannot bring these previous films to your appointment, it may be necessary to reschedule.

To prepare for your digital X-ray imaging procedure, please make sure all jewelry and other removable items (hearing aids, glasses, etc.) are removed. Your radiologist will ensure the process is quick and painless, generally taking around 20 minutes. Patients can return to their daily activities immediately unless otherwise instructed.

Digital X-rays vs. Traditional X-rays

As noted, digital X-rays capture images through special sensors instead of the traditional film of the past. Digital X-rays also hold other advantages over traditional X-rays, including a reduced environmental impact, enhanced image clarity, and improved record keeping.
